Charach Cancer Treatment Center
The Charach Cancer Treatment Center at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital (HVSH) was established in 1998. It is an integrated center with medical oncology and radiation oncology working closely together. Through our joint operating agreement with Karmanos, we are able to offer access to clinical trials.
HVSH also offers a 1-3 month elective “senior service” which is representative of a private practice setting which some may elect upon graduation. While on rotation at HVSH residents participate in tumor board, new patient conference and chart rounds, and are involved with clinical research. Residents are able to participate in the Journal Club and other didactic sessions held at Gershenson via videoconference.
Equipment and technology:
- Varian 2100 CD, installed 1998.
- CT with simulation capabilities to be installed in April 2008. This will be shared with radiology IMPAC patient management system: We have gone chartless in many aspects of our patient care. The medical oncology module to this system has been purchased and will further enable us to move towards a complete EMR.
- Eclipse treatment planning system: plans conventional treatment as well as IMRT. The Eclipse upgrade should be installed in the next several months.
