Chairman’s Rounds: Occurs each Monday, 12-1 p.m. Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology will speak on a variety of topics of educational nature to the residents.

 

Chart Rounds: Occurs each Tuesday morning, 8-9:30 a.m. Current patients who began the week prior are discussed.

 

Grand Rounds: Occurs the 3rd Tuesday of each month, 12-1 p.m. Invited guests from within the University or visiting professors will speak on a variety of topics of educational nature to the residents.

 

New Patient Conference: Occurs each Thursday morning, 8-9 a.m.  A complete case, from chief complaint to the treatment plan used, is presented for discussion amongst the residents and faculty.

 

Morbidity and Mortality: Occurs the 3rd Thursday of each month, 7:30-8:00 a.m. Cases that resulted in an unintended consequence secondary to radiation treatment are reviewed and literature is presented to include possible reasons the particular M&M occurred and suggestions for prevention in the future. 

 

Resident Didactic Presentations: Occurs each Friday, 12-1 p.m.  A comprehensive review of a clinical topic is presented by a resident based on an assigned chapter from the Gunderson textbook (Clinical Radiation Oncology, Gunderson & Tepper, 2006 Edition).

 

Journal Club: Occurs the 4th Friday of each month, 1-2 p.m. Current literature is assigned by the chief resident for presentation and discussion amongst the residents and faculty.  The presentation includes background, purpose, materials/methods, results, and discussion of the trial.

 

Faculty Presentations: Occurs the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, 1-2 p.m. Topics of educational nature to the residents, including abstracts accepted for presentation or invited speaker lectures, are presented by department faculty.
